Weekend soccer round up

Firstly, i must say things are looking bright for chelsea fc (for those ignorant people who still call us chelski, don't you know the suffix -ski is much more related to the polish language than russian?). top of the table with form team man u, and 3 out of 3 wins in the UCL. and we havent even hit any sort of form yet! some interesting things happened this weekend:

1. i sold rooney for the first time this season! dear wayne, do let me know if you're going to score a hat trick in advance, cos no matter how well u play i won't have any points if i don't have you!

2. lampard scored again! ok i know he's actually playing rubbish at the moment. he refuses to run and do creative things such that terry has to dribble 3/4 of the pitch sometimes. but well his shooting is picking up and WATCH OUT BARCELONA!

3. teddy sheringham scored! man he's almost twice my age and he's still able to play in such a physical and fast paced league. and he's still as sharp as ever.

4. stupid cable here didn't show the man utd match! i missed out on their best performance of the season. what were they thinking? this was 1st vs 3rd and you dont broadcast it? mad isn't it.

5. sheva didn't play! zero points for my dear sheva, who didn't tell me he was injured. Boula and krancjar from my fantasy team didn't play either dammit.

and i've been watching quite alot of sports lately (soccer, rugby league, rugby union) and i realised something: soccer referees are really being bullied! they should really change the laws of the game as it is clear the abuse of the referee is not contributing positively to the competitiveness of the sport! look at rugby, the referee is always in control of the match and the players know that when they do something stupid they can get sin binned or put on record. but in soccer the players are acting like spoilt brats and hooligans. the way they argue and protest is getting out of hand.

dialogue with the referee is definately encouraged to find out what you're being penalised or to try to tell him once what you're doing. but not chasing him and shouting at him or the linesman. especially when you're asking for a penalty when you've dived! these images are not good for the game at all!

and how about diving? do you soccer players know the reaction to diving here in Australia after Blatter apologised for the dive Grosso did? the Aussies can't believe people dive in sports! makes all of us soccer fans supporters of cheats and actors. and i'm no hypocrite either. i scold the tv when people like Drogba and Robben dive because its not good for the game! its no good for your team dear arjen, when staying on your feet could mean you scoring more goals you idiot! look at Drogba's form this season after cutting the negativity out from his play. what an improvement.

I fully support the introduction of video refereeing. if there is something the referee can't see, and this is going to impact so much (australia vs. italy anyone? argentina vs. england '86?). if a goal is scored or a penalty awarded, checking with the vidoe referee for 2 minutes won't affect anything but the fairness of the game. i can't believe platini is opposed to the introduction of video technology and in favour of 4 linesmen. 4 linesmen. how absurb is that. maybe you should have 4 referees as well! i bet platini doesn't use a handphone, and thinks the internet is some unproven US military secret. you fool! i hope he doesn't get voted as UEFA president.

ok enough of raving and ranting. back to work, and for this wednesday morning's UCL match, GO CHELSEA!
