wild world of sports

did u see a baby on tv last night? what does a baby do when he can't get what he wants? he throws a tantrum. all i saw standing in front of the away bench at upton park last night was a big fat baby employed as the manager of arsenal football club. you lost, your opponent tries to make things up by shaking your hand, just shake it. you're supposed to be the great manager, brought your team to UCL final, won premierships, famous for your astute buys, and you act like a spoilt brat who didn't get his bottle of milk.

prior to last night's matches i was reading a back issue of fourfourtwo and came across an article that was highlighting the invulnerability of barcelona. they hailed the defence of puyol and marquez, who looked second best when handling the skillful battering ram drogba. zambrotta and thuram do not look to like the stars of today's game, they resemble a fading pair who have grasped one last big paycheck and chance to play in a big league and escape the second tier of italy's domestic league. and with barcelona desperate for some defensive experience this was a marriage of convenience. well barcelona took one point off my beloved chelsea in 2 matches to send me into a euphoric high in the lead up to the spurs match...

...which my boyhood heroes lost! i can't believe how they didn't kill of the game in the first 20 mins with so many good chances. they were hammering balls at the meat shields of spurs defenders, and drogba's scissor kick just missed the post! we are probably the team with the tallest and best headers of the ball you can find around. we're as good as it gets. look at terry, ballack, carvalho (who soccernet described as an absolute beast in the air when we signed him), even essien, we shouldn't be conceding goals like the one dawson scored! speaking of essien, he was the guy marking dawson, and he just stood still and let dawson run free. idiot.

and my dear khalid who i have been praising, is looking rather shaky recently. both goals in the barcelona match can be attributed to him, and the second goal in the weekend was a absolute shocker the way robbie keane (!) made him look like a clumsy school boy. and im not one to discount contributions made by others, so here's to ashley cole, who looks rather slow and tactically unsound when handling wingers. he totally couldn't cope with messi, and lennon ran circles round him last night. er maybe we should have settled for fabregas. or van persie. anyway c'mon chelsea you've got to be consistent. not like arsenal or liverpool who only play well in big matches! you've got to win them all. and personally i would like to see wayne bridge back in the team. and more of joe cole too pls.

since coming to australia i've been watching lots of sports, and found lots of disgraceful incidents in all these sports. my favourite code of football now is rugby league and i've been catching the trinations series. i bet no one watches rugby league. at least no one who reads this blog. but still this is interesting. coming back from injury, big talking and big hitting kangaroos forward willie mason hits pommie stuart fielden with a punch that floors him. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zeUQPwlrrkk next he goes on with a high tackle using his forearm tucked in front of him and hits sean long on the neck (or face). what disgusting behaviour! he was put on report for both incidences (in the first 10mins of the game) and as of tonight has been banned for a game and fined $5000. these big trash talking blokes should just shut their mouth and play fair! a pity you guys can't see the second incident but to me it looked like outright murder.

another sport that is really violent is the international rules series, where the AFL footie players from australia face off against the gallic football players of ireland. first thing to happen was a aussie footie player attacked a barman. he was sent home but instead jumped planes to amsterdam and has not reported for club training which has started today. that is a disgrace as well.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5gFZ9p9L2b4. when will these overgrown children start acting like responsible men and watch their actions. an ambassador for this country in ireland attacks a barman. what good will it do for relations between the countries and sports?

also the match that followed was a horribly violent affair. i can't find any videos yet but i'll put it up when i have. unlike willie mason's incident these guys were squaring off one v one and throwing many punches at each other, with no regard for the game that continued (and australia put away a goal into the net, which scored us 6 points). grow up children.

such excitement in the weekend. and now another anticlimatic week where i have to study and work my ass off if i don't want to be studying during my first week back in spore. have had FM2007 for more than a week now but haven't installed it yet! what discipline. yup for all those in spore who are reading i hope to see you guys soon! pls save some money so u can buy me bowls of noodles and drinks when i get back!
